I am a treasury-holic.

I've caught the Etsy Treasury bug. I'm addicted to treasuries.

For those of you that do not know what a treasury is, it's a collection of favorite items that you choose and arrange to be displayed for all the world to see. Sometimes they can be difficult to get; they are limited in number. I managed to sneak 3 out of the system. One is on the regular treasury page, and the other two are on a test Treasury West page.
Mama said... is a collection of DSM items. I've swapped it out a few times to feature as many people as possible.
Swank it up!!! is another collection of DSM items, this time all jewelry. I love it, but never really wear it. This one I haven't changed at all. This one is on the Treasury West page.
Ladybug, Ladybug is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of ladybugs. It's from everyone not just DSMs, and it's on the Treasury West page also.
They only last from two to three days, so look quick before they expire!

Random Stuff

I'm battling sinus issues. I have the lovely scratchy throat, pressure, constant nose running, ugh! I've been drinking hot green tea with honey and lemon constantly for the past 3 days, but so far nothing! I can't sleep because of the breathing problems, so I've been watching alot of late night TV.
I re-discovered a movie. It's called 200 Cigarettes. I love it! It's cheesy bad, but is loaded with good talent (and some not so good talent). How could you not love a movie with Ben and Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, Paul Rudd, Courtney Love, Christina Ricci, and so on. It's set on New Years Eve, and I'm loving the thick accents and bad hair.
I'm working on a gift for Hubby's boss. He had a little girl, and Hubby wanted me to make her a Snuggle Bunny and blanket. It's their fourth, so I definitely need washable yarn. I can't decide what I want to use. I guess a trip to JoAnn's is in order. Yay shopping!

"Get better soon!"

Hubby and I got another chance to go out this past weekend. My regular sitter had to work her other job, so Mom was kind enough to fill the void. God bless mothers! I feel bad asking her so often, but we needed the break after the day of funerals.
In the morning, I had to attend a funeral of a co-worker, and in the afternoon, Hubby had to attend the funeral of a teen boy's mother. It's very sad in both cases, but I think I had the tougher time. The co-worker also taught a Sunday School class of little ones, and they made her a video to watch during her hospital stay. Well, I started sniffling when it started and almost lost it completely when, right before the video ended, a little voice shouted, "Get better soon!" Oh, that was tough. I know she's happy and no longer in pain with Jesus, but it doesn't make the sadness disappear completely.
Anyway, so Hubby and I showed up looking like the Gotti's in mostly black to the show. I felt completely overdressed, but Hubby and Rob matched- it was cute! I'm looking forward to hearing him with the whole band next time. We may have to become official groupies!

Books for Soldiers

The lovely mother of Mr. Skull-A-Day sent me an email telling me about this program, and I'm passing the word along. If you can help, please do. I've heard very lonely, sad stories from the grapevine, and I know that any contact with home is appreciated.

My Barbra Walters special

I've been playing around with the stupid Picasa thing, and I made a new picture thing. I thought a little color would be nice. It looks like a Barbra Walters special. I think that's what I'll call it. My Barbra Walters special.

God bless you and keep you...

A friend recently suffered a loss. I am praying for her and her family and asking you to do the same.

Nine years and counting...

It's been nine years. My loving Hubby and I have been married nine years! We had a nice quiet (but short) evening listening to an old friend at his acoustic gig. We had some coffee, very good, and listened to some music, even better.
He sang two songs at our wedding (back when Hubby and he were in the same band) Aerosmith's "I don't wanna close my eyes..." and the standard Steven Curtis Chapman wedding song. Well, Hubby asked him to sing the Aerosmith song for us. Rob's such a sweetie that even though we haven't had contact in like 4 years he did it! And Hubby teared up! It was a great evening.
We found out that Rob and his wife live really close, so I think (hope) we'll be able to get together more often. I really missed him- he's a good guy, some of Hubby's friends (I won't mention names) I didn't like so much, but Rob's a good guy.

Go Gators!

My supervisor asked me to make this, it's for my MIL. She ordered her a set of Scrabble tiles to play fast Scrabble with while she's recovering. Can you guess she's a Gator fan?

The inside is lined with this bright orange slippery fabric that my mom has had laying around for years. I think its original purpose was to become a hunter's vest back when my 26 year old brother was 5.

You wouldn't think that a bag that small was as difficult as it was. I had it all cut out and planned and then my sewing machine decided it wasn't going to do buttonholes. SO... I had to redo the top and rethink the ribbon tube thingy. Agh! It was a learning experience to say the least.

Designing Swanky Moms!

Guess what. I joined a new group at Etsy. It's called the Designing Swanky Moms. Doesn't that just fit me to a "T"? I like to think that under all the food that my monster has "shared" with me, snot that has been smeared on my clothes, and "jewelry" that has been lovingly made by little fingers is my swanky-diva self. Anyway, I've checked out a few of the sites, and it's all treasures I would be proud to wear/carry. Check out the blog! You can also search Etsy tags for dsm and find all of out goodies.

So, you're saying I need to clean up my junk?

He also sent me this. Do you think he's trying to give me some sort of hint?

Recycling as art?

Hubby sent me a link to someone's blog where they featured pictures of creative recycling. I found the original, and thought I might share. I'm also going to credit the author. Since I can't read what's written, I'll just direct you to here. I think the author's name is atelier v.
Those crazy Europeans!
