Something new???

I'm thinking about trying something new. I've been cruising the crafting video podcasts, and I have to say, um... So I talked it over with my resident computer expert, and he said it would be costly to do one "up to his standards." Whatever.

I thought that maybe a short little clip every Monday (I'm not sure how long they could be.) would be kind if fun. I could do a different project in segments and post it up here. The finished item would be for sale in my Etsy shop. I might as well take advantage of the video posting capabilities on Blogger, huh?

Two reasons, I have the need to do everything better than what I've seen so far. If you have an excellent craft video podcast that you love, please let me know. I have not seen them all, so don't be offended and assume that I think your favorite is terrible. I may not have seen it yet.

Second reason, it would force me to finish at least one project a month! If you've been watching my shop, you've probably noticed nothing new has been added in quite a while. Yeah, yeah, I'm a slacker.

Well, okay, there's a third reason. I bite my nails. I've been trying to stop forever, and it comes and goes, but if I know potentially the whole world can seen my hideous nails I might have more incentive to stop completely. It's a vain reason though, so we don't need to spread it around.

So anyway, let me know what you think. I've been told I'm somewhat funny and definitely clumsy, so I think it would be amusing to watch. So yeah, let me know what you think.

Fabulously, Fantasmagorically Friendly (day after)Friday!

Maybe I should just make it a Swanky Saturday post, and give up on the whole Friday thing...

This week I'm featuring the Swanky Beth of Tada Designs. Her shop name came out of the joy of showing off new creations. "Ta Da! What do you think?" accompanied every new item showing. She got her crafting start from her mother and grandmother who taught her how to sew, but she found her passion in painting.

She has always loved lettering, even though her handwriting is terrible (her words not mine!) She practiced her writing and drawing, and dabbled in calligraphy while decorating her room in Coca-cola and word collages in high school. She's still not sure why she never became a graphic designer.

Visit her shop at Etsy to see her lovely pieces and to be inspired with beautiful home decor items.

Fabulously, Fantasmagorically Friendly Friday!

Yay, look at that, I'm doing another one!

This week I'm promoting another Swanky Mama, Wendy from Precious Objects. She tells me that she chose her shop name after realizing how much she used the word precious. Upon visiting her shop, you definitely understand the meaning of the word. Her items are special, unique and something you want to keep close to your heart.

Even though she is raising her three boys alone, she still takes time to see beauty in findings that have history, and she enjoys making them new again. Pastels, textures and the talent that surrounds her inspires her new creations.

She may have taken every art class she could in school, but by far, her talent exceeds her training. Please visit her shop at Etsy to view and buy any one of her precious pieces.

Changing Things Up

I know I haven't posted much lately, I'm trying to get my Etsy promoted as much as possible. And of course, the holidays are time consuming!

I added a new MySpace to separate out my personal life and my business life, so I'm thinking I may do the same here. I'll have to do some serious cleaning house though and that scares me, big time! It'll probably stay the way it is for a while, and let's face it, I don't post that much anyway!

New Items!

This fall colored clutch is just the right size for holding necessities for an evening out or all those holiday parties you have filling your schedule.

The outside is a quilted-look bronze satin that appears deep chocolate from the side, but shines bronze from the front. Hand-beaded accents compliment the diamond stitching. The delicate hand-beaded tassel adds extra sparkle. The inside is lined in a hand-dyed poinsettia print dyed with homemade organic coffee dye.

A magnetic snap will keep everything where it belongs.

Approximate finished dimensions are 8 inches by 4 1/2 inches.

I am a treasury-holic.

I've caught the Etsy Treasury bug. I'm addicted to treasuries.

For those of you that do not know what a treasury is, it's a collection of favorite items that you choose and arrange to be displayed for all the world to see. Sometimes they can be difficult to get; they are limited in number. I managed to sneak 3 out of the system. One is on the regular treasury page, and the other two are on a test Treasury West page.
Mama said... is a collection of DSM items. I've swapped it out a few times to feature as many people as possible.
Swank it up!!! is another collection of DSM items, this time all jewelry. I love it, but never really wear it. This one I haven't changed at all. This one is on the Treasury West page.
Ladybug, Ladybug is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of ladybugs. It's from everyone not just DSMs, and it's on the Treasury West page also.
They only last from two to three days, so look quick before they expire!

Designing Swanky Moms!

Guess what. I joined a new group at Etsy. It's called the Designing Swanky Moms. Doesn't that just fit me to a "T"? I like to think that under all the food that my monster has "shared" with me, snot that has been smeared on my clothes, and "jewelry" that has been lovingly made by little fingers is my swanky-diva self. Anyway, I've checked out a few of the sites, and it's all treasures I would be proud to wear/carry. Check out the blog! You can also search Etsy tags for dsm and find all of out goodies.

The secret's out.

I guess the secret's out. In case you haven't noticed, the Hand dyed Envelope Wallet in my Etsy listing is made with material I dyed with my coffee dye, BUT, I haven't entered my bag into the reusable shopping bag challenge at Craftster. So, I'm still keeping the whole process quiet until I post my bag on August 1. Not that I think I'm gonna win, but it's not something I've seen anyone else do on that website. I want maximum impact!

Etsy, Etsy, Bo Betsy, Banana Fanana, Fo Fetsy...

I've got an Etsy!!! (insert nanny, nanny, boo, boo face here) I'm excited, but a little nervous. What if this ends up like the eBay fiasco of June 2007? Oh well, you don't know what you can do until you try. I'm all for trying anything at least once. Craftyhandbags was already taken, so I had to go with
http://craftybagsetc.etsy.com
That's OK because I don't just make handbags. I am a crafty woman! (with a short attention span) Meanwhile, I'll just have to have a little chat with whoever took MY CRAFTYHANDBAGS!!! (deep cleansing breaths) I'm fine...really.
So far I just have two things listed, but many more will come. I have bags coursing through my veins. You know what's really funny? I hardly ever carry a handbag! Well, I carry one, but it's usually thrown into the diaper bag. Sad, isn't it? It's like I live vicariously through all the people I've been giving my handbags to. Well, not any more! I'll be living vicariously through all the people who BUY my handbags!
I really need to get cracking on my teddy bear thing. It's just sitting on my counter mocking me, "You are an idiot! Who is so dumb that they can't make a teddy bear head? YOU!" I will conquer the bear head!
Anyways... check out my etsy, buy something, will ya?
